They Are Not Your Friend

"Misfortune shows those who are not really friends."

Putting the differences between the Republican plan as promoted by House Minority Leader, Republican Congressman John Boehner, and the tax measures re: the Bush Tax breaks advocated by President Barack Obama into a visual graph makes clear what it means by the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words.

Obama tax plan,on the left,with the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts
for all but the top 2 to 3 % ;
the Republican / John Boehner endorsed extension
of the Bush Tax Cuts, reflecting the disproportionate
tax advantages provided to the upper 2 - 3% of the wealthiest Americans

This becomes significant when you keep in mind that the tax cuts for the middle and lower income earners will directly benefit job growth and economic investment and developments; while the Republican large 'gifts' to the wealthy will not.

When you add to this graph the factor that the Republican and other groups on the right have advocated for the undeserved and obscene salaries and bonuses for those on Wall Street who crashed the economy with reckless and dishonest practices in the Financial Sector, but who consistently oppose the generous salaries and benefits to the labor force seeking a living wage for their families, particularly opposing the wages paid union members, who were NOT responsible for the worst recession since the Great Depression.

So.......if you are not, yourself, in the top 2 or 3% of the wealthy in this country --- why would you vote so overwhelmingly against your own self-interest, and the interest of the majority of your fellow Americans?  Why would you vote to add billion upon billions to the national debt, for nothing in return?

You can read the details of the accompanying congressional analysis to the graph here.

There is a good reason for the right to be the party associated with the color red; under their failed tax plans and public policy, that is the color dripping from the federal balance sheets.  They failed; don't give them back the keys, again.  They have no new plans, no innovations, no original ideas to implement; just more of the same old, same old red ink.
