Respect for Religion IS an American Value

Respect for religion IS an American value; while this nation has had significant anti-Semitism in the past, notably among conservatives under the Old Right, and continuing to some degree under the New Right, and now continuing to be embraced by the current extreme right that is welcomed into the mainstream right. That was wrong, and those who oppose hate speech have opposed anti-Semitism and Islamophobia equally. Sadly, the right continues to give it cover, at least in some segments of it.

But I think I found this intelligent, thoughtful, complex and nuanced understanding of the situation to be far more productive for American interests than the right wing knee-jerk-to-the-balls efforts to strip out foreign aid, a cut-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face feel good but stupid response to this and other events by th right. Republicans are apparently no longer good at foreign policy, any of them; or they know better but are willing to sacrifice our interests and the lives of Americans to try to undermine Obama at any cost. Both are probably true to some extent; neither reflects well on the right wing fools. This clip explains what I mean, very well, in terms of conservative Congressional failures.
